Produktbeskrivelse

For use by professionals only.

Protox Insect is a colorless wood protection to prevent and combat insect attacks in, for example, roof rafters, battens, battens and floor beams.

Protox Insect:

  • Prevents and combats insect attacks in new and old woodwork
  • Can be used against all wood-boring insects such as Common Borers and Wood Borers

The benefits of Protox Insect

With ProtoxInsekt you can prevent and combat insect attacks in new and old woodwork so that the wood is not destroyed by the insects.

In buildings where people stay for a long time (homes, office buildings and workplaces), the product may only be used in places where people generally only occasionally and briefly come into contact with treated wood (e.g. roof structures, skunk rooms and joists in basements and under floor structures).

Since Protox Insect contains both a control and preventive effect, you do not need to treat with multiple agents to stop ongoing attacks and protect the woodwork against future attacks.

Protox Insect is tested and approved

Protox Insect has all the necessary approvals according to Danish and EU legislation. The product is approved by the Danish Environmental Protection Agency and by the Ministry of the Environment according to  the Biocidal Products  Regulation (Regulation (EU) No. 528/2012). reg. no. 795-2-2-1. It has also been tested and approved according to the EN standards EN 46-47, EN 49-1/2 and EN 73 cf. DS (Danish standard/EN 599-1).

The tests include testing the agent’s ability to destroy live insect larvae in the wood, to penetrate the wood’s surface and to resist aging. The results showed that the effect of Protox Insect on these points is completely up to and above the standard.

Protox Insect has MAL 00-1 (the same as regular wall paint).

Use of Protox Insect

What is Protox Insect?

Protox Insect is a wood protection product against attacks by wood-boring insects such as Boring Beetles and House Beetles. The product combats ongoing attacks and prevents future attacks from all types of insects. Protox Insect can be used on new and old wood and is particularly suitable for protecting listed and conservation-worthy buildings such as churches, castles and manor houses. The product has a faint odor and a MAL code of 00-1, which means that it is classified as environmentally hazardous to the aquatic environment.

Where do you use Protox Insect?

Protox Insect

  • Used on new and old woodwork
  • In buildings where people stay for a long time (homes, office buildings and workplaces), the product may only be used in places where people generally only occasionally and briefly come into contact with treated wood (e.g. roof structures, skunk rooms and joists in basements and under floor structures).
  • Do NOT use for treating wood that comes into contact with food or feed.
  • Use on wood with a temperature above 5°C
Preparation

Protox Insect is ready to use and must not be diluted further.

To achieve the necessary effectiveness of the treatment, 200 g of Protox Insect must be applied per m² of wood surface for preventive treatment and 300 g for control treatment. This is best achieved by applying 2-3 times with a brush or sprayer – each time to the point of saturation.

The product should not be stirred before use.

The woodwork must always be cleaned carefully before treatment begins.

Always read the safety data sheet and data sheet before using the product.

Application

Protox Insect can be applied with a brush, by spraying or by dipping.

After treatment

Drying time is approximately 8 hours at 20°C.

Tools and equipment are cleaned with soap and water after use.

Protox Insect has a shelf life of at least 18 months from the date of production in unopened packaging and must be stored frost-free.

Empty packaging and leftovers must be delivered to the municipal hazardous waste system.

Using Protox Insect causes less swelling on untreated wood. You should therefore expect to sand the surface if you intend to paint it.

Protox Insect can be added with a fluorescent substance that lights up when illuminated with a UV lamp. You can use this effect to check treatment. The effect is most obvious in the dark and less obvious in daylight.
